Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar Chief Minister for 10th Time After NDA Support

Nitish Kumar Sworn In as Bihar CM for 10th Time With NDA Support

Patna, November 20, 2025 – The days of political suspense were over, and Nitish Kumar was sworn in on Thursday as the Chief Minister of Bihar with the full support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for his record 10th term. A large number of people attended the oath-taking ceremony that was conducted in the historic Gandhi Maidan of Patna, and this was a landmark in the political history of the state.

There was a meeting between the NDA leadership and the Governor, after which Nitish Kumar was sworn to take office, and soon after, they claimed to form the government. The JD(U) leader swore the same old oath that has characterised his long political career and confirmed that he is once again at the top of the position.

Top Leadership in Attendance

A number of senior NDA leaders, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bigwigs, were present at the swearing-in ceremony, as they shared the stage with Nitish Kumar. Their good showing was a highlight of the unity of the alliance and the new working relationship between the JD(U) and the BJP after the display of power of the coalition in the assembly.

The meeting brought together the legislators, party workers and even supporters around the state, with most of them cheering the oath-taking by Nitish as a new beginning of Bihar.

Two Deputy Chief Ministers Take Charge

In addition to Nitish Kumar, the leaders of the BJP also took oath as deputy chief ministers, which included Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. The two-deputy CM system is an indication that the NDA has laid stress on the coordination and balanced leadership in the government.

The new cabinet was also sworn in, and ministers in both JD(U) and BJP were present. There is a balance of old leaders and new recruits in the cabinet to bring more regional representation and renew the administration system.

NDA’s Strong Numbers Pave the Way

The turnaround in the fortunes of Nitish Kumar is a result of an easy majority victory in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly by the NDA. As the alliance surpassed the majority mark by a comfortable margin, its leaders were projecting that it would deliver a stable government in the coming five years.

According to the political observers, this tenth term is an indication of the long-term influence of Nitish Kumar on the politics of Bihar, coupled with the strategic consolidation of the NDA in the run-up to national political activities.

Focus on Jobs, Law and Order, Development

Nitish Kumar, after assuming office, took the oath and gave a short address to the media promising to concentrate on job creation, the issue of law and order, development of infrastructure and welfare programmes.

He stressed the fact that the state government would become more rigorous and diligent in fulfilling the expectations of the people.

According to sources in the coalition, priority departments can be restructured to make the decision-making process quicker and enhancement of service delivery.

Opposition Reaction

The peaceful transition was celebrated by opposition parties, but the question they put forward was whether the alliance would fulfill promises made during the election campaign. He cited joblessness, migration, and country suffering as the regions that needed urgent action.

The leaders of the NDA have responded to the criticism by saying that the new government is ready to take things forward with an undivided development agenda.

A Historic Yet Challenging Term Ahead

The 10th oath-taking by Nitish Kumar attained a historic milestone, and therefore, he is one of the longest-serving chief ministers in India. His re-election has brought both excitement and skepticism, as those who supported him want the status quo and those who opposed him want major changes in their leadership.

With Bihar entering a new political stage with the NDA, the next few months will be critical in evaluating the ability of the government to realize its mandate in making tangible improvements on the ground.
