Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026: Centre Raises Concern Over Low Maharashtra Registrations, Urges Schools to Act

Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026: Centre Flags Low Maharashtra Response

Mumbai, December 25, 2025: The Centre’s flagship student engagement initiative, Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) 2026, is not being received with much enthusiasm in Maharashtra, and education officials are worried about encouraging more students to enroll until the January 11 deadline.

The PPC 2026 initiative, under the leadership of students, teachers and parents all over the country, is advised to subscribe to the online platform and participate in the annual interactive programme with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to overcome the stress of examinations and ensure a positive learning experience. The registration period commenced on December 1 and will end on January 11, 2026.

Maharashtra Misses Goal

The target set for Maharashtra was about 65 lakh mixed student, teacher and parent registrations. But the official numbers show that the state has only registered approximately 2.78 lakh till now, a mere drop considering the target, which brings about concerns in the education department of the state.

As there are about 20 days to go, the department has directed the district education officers and school principals of Maharashtra to step up the outreach campaigns and motivate as many people as possible to take part. Schools have been requested to send the progress report every day, and strongly encourage the students and parents to register by the deadline.

Schools Mobilised to Participate More

The directive requires that all schools, including primary and higher-secondary schools, should put the focus on PPC outreach and normal school programs. The officials of the education sector underlined that the programme will provide students with a special platform to interact with the national leadership on matters concerning examination preparation and emotional well-being.

Nationwide Context

In India, PPC 2026 registration has been on a steady pace, and millions of students, teachers and parents have registered through the MyGov Innovate platform. The national registration statistics have already passed several tens of lakhs, which indicates further interest towards the programme.

The initiatives in Maharashtra are timely because the state strives to make sure that the flagship program is widely represented in the school environment in the future, before the board exams.
