Pakistan Terror Attack: Suicide Bombers Hit Frontier Constabulary Headquarters in Peshawar

Peshawar Terror Attack: Suicide Bombers Hit FC Headquarters

PESHAWAR, Nov 24 – A lethal terror attack hit the Pakistani city of Peshawar on Sunday, when suicide bombers and armed militants hit the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters, causing explosions, intensive fire, and lockdown of the security in the region. At least three FC members are killed and a number of others wounded in the planned attack, the first reports confirm.

It started just after morning office time when a suicide bomber blew his explosives at the main entrance of the FC compound, breaking the outer security line and causing havoc in the cantonment area that was heavily secured. In the next few seconds, a second suicide bomber tried to proceed deeper into the facility as gunmen opened fire on the security forces that were positioned around the doors.

Eyewitnesses reported that there were two large explosions shaking the surrounding buildings, and then there were bursts of gunfire. Those living close to the compound complained about the smoke coming out of the compound being thick, and ambulances, police cars, and army personnel rushed into the area.

Security officers reported that the second bomber was stopped and disarmed before detonating major buildings within the headquarters, and that would have caused an even more disastrous attack. The police are yet to establish the exact number of attackers.

Security Forces Lock Down the Area

Law enforcement, military forces, and special counterterrorism units promptly closed the roads to the FC Headquarters. The entire process of clearing the area is in progress, and bomb squads are inspecting the compound to see whether there are any other explosives or hidden attackers.

This has put hospitals on high alert around Peshawar. Several personnel who were injured in a blast and had gunshot injuries were taken to emergency rooms. Critical-care units were reinforced by calling in medical staff.

The government has asked the citizens to stay off the scenes of the attack as the military keeps the environment calm.

High-Value Security Installation Targeted

The Frontier Constabulary is a key paramilitary force focused on counterinsurgency and internal security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its headquarters is considered a strategic target by groups seeking to disrupt state security.

Although no organization has so far swiftly taken authority, the authorities indicate that the multi-tiered attack involving suicide bombers and gunmen fits the description of attacks staged by extremist networks that are active in the area.

Intelligence reports are being scrutinized by the investigators to understand how the attackers could have either gotten local support or penetrated into the city from other districts.

Condemnation and Heightened Security Measures

The provincial leaders and security officials denounced the attack, terming it a cowardly attack on the defenders of Pakistan. The immediate reaction of the FC personnel who sought to deal with the attackers and stop further penetration into the compound was applauded by officials.

In addition, security has also been increased throughout Peshawar, and new checkpoints and patrols have been set up around government buildings, military installations, and key intersections. The CCTV footage is being examined by surveillance teams to trace the sequence of the attack.

The security operation is still ongoing, and roads around the FC Headquarters are still closed.

Public Advised to Stay Vigilant

The surrounding communities have been urged not to go on the streets and to remain at home. The videos that locals shared depict smoke coming out of the compound, sirens of emergency, and gunfire that hits the district.

The attack highlights persistent security challenges in the region, underlining ongoing threats from organized militant groups targeting critical institutions.
