14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes 190 Off 84 Balls; Breaks AB de Villiers’ World Record

Vaibhav Suryavanshi 190: 14-Year-Old Breaks AB de Villiers Record

RANCHI, 24 December, 2025 – Indian prodigal, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi whose batting has been so brutal it has become surreal has left an imprint in the annals of history. The state of Bihar representative in the first round of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy in the state of Arunachal, who was a teenage sensation, had felled the Arunachal Pradesh bowling attack with the score of 190 out of only 84 deliveries.

This was not just a record of his own, but it was a world record. Suryavanshi was the first to officially set the world record of the fastest 150 in List A cricket using just 54 balls. It was the second best record following the South African legend AB de Villiers who hit the record in 64 balls in his legendary 162 in 2015 against West Indies.

A Record-Breaking Spree

The left-hander started the attack with a blizzard of boundaries in the very first over, and this attack was characterized by the wisdom which was beyond his age (14 years and 272 days).

His greatest hits in his career are:

  • Fastest 150: Produced in 54 balls, taking over AB de Villiers by 10 passes.
  • Rapid Century: Only in 36 balls did he become the youngest centurion in the history of men in List A of cricket.
  • The Power: 16 fours and 15 sixes made his innings.
  • Almost at Double-Ton: he was later thrown out at 190, just short of the fastest recorded 200 (104 balls) which he was easily beating.

Bihar Breaks Team World Record

The Suryavanshi massacre was the precondition of the more significant historical triumph. Bihar finished their 50 overs with a staggering 574/6 making a new world record of the highest team score in List A cricket history. They readily surpassed the previous figure of 506/2 that Tamil Nadu had attained in the year 2022.

Even though the primary figure was Suryavanshi, he had the support of the Bihar captain Sakibul Gani who hit a 32-ball century (the fastest by an Indian in List A), and later scored 128 off 40 balls. Wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka too gave a whirlwind 116 off 56 balls.

The Rise of a Supernova

The play of Suryavanshi that followed a few days after a strenuous struggle against the U19 Asia Cup final. However, the young opening player responded by explaining why he was the youngest player to be auctioned in an IPL ever (by Rajasthan Royals). His 84 balls in the crease today are an indication of the dawn of a new era in domestic Indian cricket.

Due to this performance that the cricketing world is reacting to as a “once-in-a-generation” performance, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made sure that his appearance on the professional circuit was not a one time performance.
